I have read somewhere that boiling your toothbrush will kill the bacteria on it. This seems logical, but will it make it any better? Will it be like new? I am currently doing it right now so I will find out later tonight.

Just sit the end in a dixie cup with antiseptic mouthwash over night. The mouthwash will kill the germs on the toothbrush and make it taste nice and minty for your morning brushing.

Replace the tooth brush every month regardless of its appearance. It may looks good, but it really is worn out. Which is why a new brush always feels so nice.

I soak mine in peroxide about once a week. I also like to put a little on my brush when I brush. The wonderful foaming action seems to make my mouth feel cleaner.

Hydrogen peroxide is cheap and clean cooties, without any apparent harm to the brush.
Plus it is super easy to just let the brush soak for a while.

I currently use 7 or 8 toothbrushes(one at a time, of course!), and when all/most have been used once, I run 'em through the dishwasher. Since we clean off all traces of food before putting dishes/cookware/silverware in the DW, this seems to work well. As always, YMMV.

I tried this years ago by microwaving a cup of water and dipping the brush in it. The head twisted and warped.

So, I just soak the head in a cup of Listerine overnight. I also use Listerine toothpaste, so it's a double-dip the next morning. Ahhhhh....frrrresh.

Thought I should update and report my findings. Having used the boiled brush a few times since the experiment, I see no difference in brushing agitation. Killing the bacteria as the result of boiling may allow you to extend your toothbrush change interval (TCI) but buying a new toothbrush is the only way to enjoy the sensation of soft equally spaced bristles.

If your afraid of the germs on a toothbrush your probably going to get the swine flue or ecola or something. Im shure im building up my Immmunities with my germy thootbrush lol my wife changes all our brushes once a month. don't forget to floss. My wife calls me dragonbreath when I forget especially after eating meat!!1

But how do you reset the toothbrush life monitor (TLM)?
