It was thoughts like Algernon's that the library of the Catholic college I attended did not contain any volume by Swinburne, or Dostoyevsky or much of the greatest literature ever produced. It was all on the Index of Forbidden Books, or in Latin Librorum Prohibitorum. Inimical to the faith don't you know. The librarian was so brainwashed that she turned pale and started whispering when a student inquired about a book on the Index Even the mention of the Index caused her to think she was on the precipice of [censored] .Thank you laserred for brushing away eighty some year old cobwebs,if only for the moment.
