BMW, Toyota and just about everyone will use the Tesla Supercharger network

Will I have to wait in line? Will Tesla make any $$ on this or is Elon totally wack?
Well, no one likes to wait in line, so there's that...

Tesla continually adds Supercharger locations, based on demand. This will accelerate Supercharger growth and benefit all of us. The idea of 2 (or more) charger types makes zero sense. And the Tesla Supercharger uptime is by far the best.
I have to believe this will be a profit center, with coffee shops and more. Tesla can also make use of their solar business to help minimize their cost and sell at retail.
You might make the case that when you think of "EV" you think of Tesla. The Tesla brand can only benefit as they own the "gas stations" as well. Wanna buy a t-shirt? Only $25...

I was surprised to see Tesla charging stations at WaWa gas stations here in Florida.
 
Glad they took my advice. Even so, this won't be a great development for EV owners. There are lines now, and broken down stations, just wait until more of the general public has a bad experience charging.
No doubt, it won't be a free charge, and even more likely, will cost more than charging at home. Tesla had a good idea with it's charging network. Unfortunately the car makers that are adopting his particular plug design have not expanded that network.
Has anyone seen a Toyota charging station?
 
There have been reports about congestion in the Super Charger Network -particularly during holiday weekends (45 minute wait at the Madonna Inn-Thanksgiving Day a year or so ago) in California It would seem others sharing the network can only make it worse.

Exactly. That's why they add based on demand. Hopefully the added demand will accelerate growth
 
Personally, Im happy to have a CCS car. Pr a nacs. I don't care. Adapters either way. The CCS does charge faster though, so thats kindof a flex.

I do not think EV would be good for burst holiday travel season. This is not only in the US but across the world as well. Many have been stuck waiting for charger during holiday travel but if you have to build for the worst case travel season fast charging, you will never be able to sustain from power plant to charging stations.

Of course, we see the same in air travel as well as road traffic, but at least gasoline is something you can store for a few weeks so you can build up supply during those time. For EV if this were to work, they have to build a huge amount of batteries either as reserved capacity in cars, or fast swapping older batteries used for grid storage taken offline for road traffic. For this reason I think gas vehicle would be around at least as a 2nd car in a family, or recommending plug in hybrid for most people with only 1 car.

Ideally every family should have a mid size EV + a large gas minivan.
