My wife and I had great fun at the BMW Autocross held in Houston last weekend. It was very interactive. They wanted you to drive every single model they had there on hand. Previous to driving they held a track class session for everyone. There was plenty of models on display, the class learning sessions, behind the wheel rips around the course, and a 2-3 mile drive on the Houston city streets. I loved the course, they wanted you to push their cars and drive as hard as you could while still under control. Don't lets the pics mislead you, it was very well attended. We were all behind concrete safety barriers as the pics were took. Thats my wife about to hop in the Z4. Thank you BMW! It was a great day in Houston!

Another poster attended another one of these. They must put these on around the country? I like that green color car. BMW has some nice looking cars but I never wanted to buy one used since in my mind they tend to be beat on.

A few peeps stopped by. How come?
Again, "Don't lets the pics mislead you, it was very well attended. We were all behind concrete safety barriers as the pics were took."

Out of common courtesy, I tend to not include much of the public when I take a pic. You just never know if it would bother someone. The turnout was great. BTW, the last few picks were late in the day, after much of the crowd had left.

The UDE is an annual sales tour.

It has expanded to cover more cities, but the tradeoff for that is that the setup isn't a fancy as it used to be.

In the past, they erected temporary lounge structures, with display cars and offering free refreshments.

It's now more bare bones, but at least you still get to toss someone else's cars around with abandon.

How would you like to be the guy(s) that have to set up and take down all those plastic interlocking floor tiles, in the Houston sun ... ;)

Several years ago BMW M had a similar event at Kentucky Speedway, with an autocross, a drag race, and laps of the oval. The oval laps were set up to lead/follow. I knew one of the instructors and he tried to let my son and I get in some quick laps but there were some real bed wetters in our group and the highest speed we saw was only 117 mph.

I don't know who set it up but day labor in and around Houston is CHEAP and plentiful. Thrown around a few $20's and you can get a lot done. The staff on hand probably didn't do any of it I would guess.
