Blending clear coat vs redoing the whole panel.

Hey everyone having my car damage at the rocker like I do i started reading and learning the basics of how the process works.
I've learned there are some shops that will blend new clear with old clear . Then there is some that are just not for that and want to re clear the whole panel so it's done right. Of course the latter cost more but is it really better? If so then ok but how good is just blending clear coat.

That is Ford's position. I think they explained the circumstances pretty well.

The OEMs don't allow it, the paint companies don't warranty it. However, it can be done properly. Make sure you go to a shop with a lifetime warranty.

The good news is that since rockers are down in the shadows and the metal folds play light trickery anyway, noone will really notice if it comes out shoddy.

It's a rocker panel replacement, I doubt anybody is going to notice slight varying differences. Wouldn't bother blending into the doors. But, they do make blenders. Are you doing this yourself? IMO if you've not done this kind of work you have too nice of a car to be "practicing" on.

I did some work on my old beater S10, but no way would I touch the newer vehicles without a serious equipment upgrade.
