Bill in Utah why are you closing postings?

The QS thread was very mundane. It's not like you put a lot of effort into it, like "hey I did all this research and this unique thing is what I found". All it contained was a bland comment on a tv commercial that was already discussed in an open thread.

Bill did 100% the right thing, geez.

I think I have learned more by looking back at old threads and posts than I have when I have looked at the current ones.

There's been slow times in the past that new threads were few, and I took that time to do a LOT of re-reading old threads. I'm very well informed for doing so. I can't imagine posting some of the things new people do w/o searching and reading, but I always offer help and guidance to new guys with good questions and no attitude.

Frankly, there's a lot of dumb and repetitive stuff posted, and the moderators need to take a stand for the sake of the forum, from a quality standpoint.

I will never forget the time I was involved in a thread where this one member stated that he rarely found any use for a particular oil additive.

A few members were praising him for his post on not using this oil additive, so I went through his old posts and found one where he e-mailed this same oil additive company with some questions since he was a regular user of this product, everyone had a good laugh.

There is a fine line between hoping that users will have integrity for the good of the forum, and going out to "nail" someone for the sport of it. I'm not sure that that line has been observed as skillfully as it could have been, and I hope the "vigorous" moderation will be applied to this area in the future.

I will agree with the member who said if we all searched and only posted in topics already started there would be very few topics and frankly, IMO, very little activity. I have never understood the thinking of some who jump people for not searching or posting "the same old thing"? It is very easy to not open a thread based on the title or to just leave it once you see it is soemthing that has come up before. No one is forced to reply in or read any thread here. When people jump newbies( or even regular members )for not searching all it does is cause anger and possibly even drives people away. IIt is stupid the way some act over reposting. It hurts nothing.

Since now we are calling someone "stupid" for trying to keep the board and its excellent info in order (it really does not makes sense to have information kept in as few of threads as possible. NHHEMI you should READ the whole thread before posting)

I'm going to lock this up as its been suggested by others and in PMs to me. I think it has gone its way and thankfully the large majority gets what is trying to be done.

When the detractors get their web site up and running send me a PM and I guess I see how to run a board.

As always, if you have any comments you can PM me.

Thanks for all the comments. Bill
