I am only 10% done with this thread I have something to say. Look at crash tests and in particular low-speed crash tests. The series of low-speed bumps include: backing into a pole, offset corner into wall...etc. A car like Focus will have $3000 damage...a Santa Fe has like $6000 damage...a Beetle ZERO... Jetta ZERO... A6 ZERO. How do you fake that? Golf is the safest compact car, according to CR. Cavalier is the most dangerous car on the road, BTW. Our 18 y/o Audi Coupe GT is nearly perfect, no rust, no engine work except VC gasket, original clutch and timing belt...every option works...digi dash...trip computer...not a rip in upholstry or crack in dash. Replaced shocks, brakes, muffler, wheel bearing & door handle. 185k with spotty maintenance. Other than light scratches, the car looks and drives new. Same price as Mom's 87 Accord, which was shot 8 years ago. The people I see who criticize German cars have no experience with them...bad mechanic syndrome kills them more cars than normal wear. I am repulsed by American cars. Mother-in-Laws 89 Ford Crown Vic was horrible, power window buttons would leave a square dent in finger tips...reaching into the ashtray meant cutting the top of your hand on sheet metal. Every seat was ripped and paint peeled...oil pan was porous from rust...her A6 looks and drives new at the same age/miles. Total repairs is less than $2000 on a 9 year old AWD automatic luxury car.
