I am considering the Mityvac Powerfill Pro 2.5g, but I wanted to see if there was anything else out there that you guys recommend?

My Primary use for it will be filling transmissions and differentials.

My only concern with the Powerfill Pro is that it does not come with any adapters for Mercedes transmissions that have to fill from the drain plug. Other kits have adapters, so I worry about having to rig up something rather than just buying a kit that already has everything ready to go. Have family members with 722.9 transmissions so it would be nice to have it all ready to go.

Suggestions?

would the cheap pump from Walmart work?

those pumps are utter garbage and the worst to clean up. I'm talking about a real pressurized fluid transfer pump.

A real pump also has the fill pipes that keep your hands away from the hot exhaust. Those ones above would be a nightmare.

I was looking at the 1745 since its only $9 more and then I wouldnt need to stop midway through and refill with more ATF fluid.

$89 for a long-term tool isn't a big deal to me. Those hand pumps take absolutely forever to put 5-8QT of ATF back in, hence why I am looking for pressurized.

Very nice but expensive… and if you run different fluids then you’re mixing residues.

Cheaper to keep a selection of these:

I love motive stuff but I’d need to be centered on one fluid to use one of those tanks.
The tanks work great. I clean mine out with a shot of denatured alcohol as recommended by Motive after each use to prevent mixing
different fluids. After using one the cost seems low compared to cheaper alternatives. The are a real timesaver with zero mess. With a couple adapters they can also be converted to a power brake bleeder also.

No way would I ever use a petroleum filled pressure system for brake fluid, alcohol wash or not.

I pour ATF down the dipstick hole so don’t have an issue with that. I agree that 2-3 quarts of gear oil is a pain to do with a hand pump, but I’m not doing it professionally, and I’m already down on the ground…. So it’s the least of the issues. Keeps my arms strong.

No dipstick tube on euro cars for the last decade…those days are over! No choice but to pump it from below now.
