I have lost my tread depth gauge and need to purchase another. Any suggestions?

people don't use pennies any more?

I'm using the gauge to adjust air pressure over the "long" life of my tires. Depending on how the tread wears I increase or decrease the air pressure in the tires.

Sorry didn't think of that...

StevieC, you'd be very surprised at what I think about. My wife and son told me last night I wasn't normal. In a good way, of course.

For example, I had the door fixed on my 4Runner last week. Lo and behold, after I got it back home I found a hex bolt on the driver's side floor mat that shouldn't be there.
I'm having an issue wondering if I should take off the door panel and see if there is a bolt missing in the door hardware. It is one of those short, shiny bolts. I have already
Youtubed how to get the door panel off. But, I now am at the point of making a cost/benefit analysis. Is it worth it?

Yeah I'm the same way but hadn't considered the tire thing. Thanks for adding that to my list of worries.

I have an old Milton. Has to be over 50 years old as it was my Dad's. I check mine when I rotate or swap winter/summer and write it down in my records. It's good to see if the wear is even across the tread as well as front to rear.

I should add i check at the wear bar.

I have one of those too, some cars it is hard to use.. due to the enclosed wheel well and low ground clearance.

I agree but the accuracy is worth it. I find the other ones to hard to read, same with a tire pressure gauge, digital is much easier to read.

Had the same Milton one I had bought off Amazon for the longest time. Thought I lost it, so picked up a generic from the local Menards for $3 and change.

I probably use them 1/year when I rotate prior to winter just to check on wear.
