What are the best almost performance shocks/struts? I'm talking about KYB GR2, Tokico HP, Sachs Advantage, Koni Orange STRT, Bilstein Touring Class... anything else?

Looks like you hit all the choices. I like Bilstein but it's hard to beat the performace to value ration of the KYB's.

I don't have much experience with replacing struts, but I did just research them as part of a 4 corner quick strut replacement I just had done.

Both Monroe and KYB claim their Quick Strut (Sensa-Trac) and GR2 are designed to ride and perform like OEM.

Now in some cases, I presume that means they will be performance. Eg for my Mercedes with AMG suspension, Monroe & KYB offer shocks in both sports and non sports variants.

But for my Ford, the same product line within both brands, is not performance, simply OEM like.

KYB mention other struts for additional performance. Monroe don't.

Now, reading different forums turns up interesting user experiences. Some say KYB GR2 are sportier than stock, some say Monroe Quick Struts are.

So I would suggest that you find out what users for your vehicle are saying prior to assuming what GR2 will do.

The Bilstein touring class struts are OK, but the shocks are not so good, at least for my app (Volvo 240), YMMV. I'm happy with Bilstein touring struts in the front and KYB Gas-A-Just shocks in the rear.
