Just purchased a 2002 jeep liberty 3.7lt V6 5spd all stock
112,000k former college girls jeep so it may have been subject to a little neglect. Was originally used in Idaho.
I live in Santa cruz CA, mild climate temp ranges 28-100 degrees through out the year. I live in the mountains so lots of hills and twistys, I intend on taking this jeep on alot of camping trips and occasional 4 wheeling adventures. I for-see a mild lift and 31X9.5 all-terrains in the future.
I hope this is enough info for a good oil recommendation.

I'd run a nice quality synthetic like Pennzoil Platinum, Mobil 1 or your preference of oil. Do 1 or 2 OCI's short like 3-4k just to help clean up the engine a bit, I knew many girls who didn't even know what an oil change was, or if it was necessary. Start low, and work your way up to whatever the OLM says if its equipped. If not 6k-7k is safe with the Liberties. Big sump, engine is easy on oil. When you do a lot of wheeling or hard driving of course keep the oil change intervals lower(4-5k).

I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee 3.7
My two oils of choice have been pennzoil platinum and valvoline synpower. The GC runs really smooth on this oils.
I would like to give PENNZOIL ULTRA atry on my next oil change

I'm currently running GC (Castrol Syntec 0W-30 Made in Germany) in my KJ. Great oil so far. Engine seems a bit smoother(vs conventional dealership oil), cold starts are much improved and of course way better protection.

But yeah, go for Pennzoil Platinum, Pennzoil Ultra, M1, Valvoline Synpower, Castrol Syntec,...

Cool great start. Any advice on the weight i.e. 0w-30, 10w-40, ect.. I'm still learning about oil, any info I can get is greatly appriciated.

You seem like you'll be putting a decent amount of mileage annually. What's your personal persuasion in terms of you oil habits?? 3k/3m ..mileage only ..6 months ..as much as you can reasonably get?

One has to know oneself as much as the vehicle one is driving

If you're only running 3-5K, then running syn is a waste. any dino 5W30 will serve your Jeep just fine.

I hope you keep the PU in longer than 5K. I'm sure it could easily do 10-12K
