Car: 54 on my diesel Escort.
Bike: topped 60MPG a couple times.
Other: 11.4 on an International Genesis school bus converted to a motorhome.

Mazda: 41.2
Focus: 34.5

That was me trying for best MPG and staying under 65 mph. All hwy, no hills.

Caravan? Never tested it yet. Probably around 26.

I've never got super high MPG in any of my cars.

2010 Rav4 4wd 4 Cylinder- 21-22mpg tops in mixed driving.

2008 Matrix FWD 4 Cylinder- 28-30mpg tops.

Both cars are tuned up and run perfect.

Lots of people were doing this in the summer of 2008 when gas prices were near $5/gallon. Is that when you were trying that? Far fewer care at $2/gallon.

Haha, yes. I tried to eek out as much MPG as I could.

The bottom line was that even with diesel pushing $5/gal locally, the hours of additional time spent in the car cost me dearly. I don't have much free time as it is. Spending 5 additional hours in the car per week was silly.

2001 Mazda Protege 1.6 litre 5-speed manual, crank windows, no AC, 14" wheels, about 180K km on the clock at the start of the trip, and likely Mobil 1 10W-30 in the sump.

In August 2012 we drove to the Rockies for a short hiking holiday. Put on about 3500 km and did 40.5 MPG US/48.7 MPG Imperial/5.8 litres/100 km. That was with a slight odometer correction based on official highway 10 km test sections which showed that the odometer was running 1% low.

It's slightly uphill (3700' elevation gain over 1500 km) heading W to Canmore, and there's usually a headwind. We always get better mileage coming home. The speed limit is 110 kph most of the way.

2006 Mazda6i: 32.3 MPGs
2012 Mazda3i skyactiv: 62 MPGs (specifically did a 45MPH 80 mile round trip to see what it could do, 60 degrees, windows up, no AC, perfect conditions)
2007 Ford Escape XLS: 31 MPGs

40 mpg in a 1990 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2L, 5spd. Following my friends 24ft. enclosed trailer towed by a '90 454SS pickup. Atlanta to Orlando down I-75, 60 to 65mph the whole way. That was a long trip. This was back in June 1995.
