Best glue for threshold at doorstep?

Recently a light (aluminum?) threshold at a door in my house became unfastened. I tried glueing it with Scotch repair glue but that only lasted a couple of days. It was stuck fast for 20 or so years since the time I bought this house, and possibly 20 before that too. So I know there is stuff out there. What would anyone recommend? It is to be glued to a bit of tile.

That's not the best way to finish the entryway. What you should do, especially if you have some leftover matching tile, is to tile the face of that step-up. If you don't have any leftover tile, I'm sure you can find something similar, or some that compliments the entry.

Mounting tape solution is looking very easy. Yeah I will clean the surface, did it before, most of that dirt in the pic is simply stuff that has blown in because the threshold is loose.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I have a piece of 2x4 on the floor of the garage to act as a stop for the car. Liquid nails has held it there for more years than I can recall.

What residues exist on it or the tile? That would be a clue. Hard? Flexible?

I’d clean everything really well, and then use some construction adhesive that says it’s good for tile and metal.

As suggested by @atikovi and @JHZR2 above, use a polyurethane construction adhesive if you don't want the door threshold to come loose again. This Loctite product works great for that type of application and will outlast the adhesive mounting tape by decades.

I did one of those and there was a slight height difference. I didn't get anything special, but used clear DAP sealant and it's been holding pretty well.

My dad is very stubborn that he can get things to work, and he originally tried using Elmer's Glue.

Mount it sloping towards the outside. Very carefully look to make sure that that NO water can run where it shouldn't to prevent rot.
