Tremec states to put in 3.2 quarts. It is factory fill with 4 quarts from Ford, but a TSB by Ford and a statement from Tremec says 3.2 will fix the notchy shifting. That much I have figured out.

Nor for the fluid.
Tremec says Mobil 1 ATF, but people say that is because that's all the have tested. Some people say Syncromesh, but some say no because it will damage parts. Others say stick with non-synthetic Ford or equivalent Mercon V. Others say Amsoil, and others say SECRET SAUCE, which includes whatever plus a quart of Lucas Trans Fix in there.

WTH do I buy tomorrow, lol. I've tried the Mustang forums, and they are always on point with mechanics and mods, not so much with oil and the like. I trust you guys more.

Thanks!

Mobil 1 ATF with Lucas transmission fix . A lot march 1 mustang running that combo . Back the I did a search and joint the march 1 mustang forum and that what every body running . I use it on my 98 gt t45 and it shift much smoother.

The T-5s/T-45s/TR-3650s MUST have VERY VERY different synchro/blocker ring setups from my T56, since I once tried the Lucas carp in mine (on the Stangers' suggestions), and had to dump the whole fluid change due to how badly it shifted with that stuff in there!

I guess NOT all Tremecs are created equally??

I agree. Lucas caused notchy shifting and 3rd gear whine in both my t-45 and t-3650.
Its carp for sure.

I've been putting in 4 litres every time I change fluids. I've yet to have any problems whatsoever. Hard miles, power shifting and never so much as a single issue
