Looking mainly for handgun cleaning kit but can be universal as someday I may buy a shotgun or rifle. Know there's a lot of choices but a lot of them are probably cheap with plastic rods and whatnot.

I'm looking for quality not so much flair... aluminum T-rod would be ideal. And what's the best gun lubricants? What all do I need to clean my gun?

Hmm, I'd be curious too. I've used a cheapo kit from Walmart, with a brass rod. Three pieces, so it will do rifles and pistols. I did splurge and get some Winchester one meant just for pistols; the cute one that fits into a can the size of a soda can. Still haven't opened the wrapper on that one, it was more of a rash buy.

I've just used some sort of gun oil, might be synthetic. I figure, with the crud that gets in there, I'm better off cleaning more often than finding the longest lasting oil.

I've used Hoppes #9. Lousy inside the house though, and it eats the latex gloves that I usually wear. [Latex or vinyl? Whatever the cheapo blue ones are.] I don't think it's good at removing lead though--if I have lead deposits I wind up scrubbing. But I think it's good enough for most stuff. Except for copper fouling that you would get on real rifle rounds.

have a Dunham's Sports there? If so, get the 30% off coupon from google, then buy the $6.99 kit. It is aluminum and has every caliber...
