I just purchased a new Nissan Pathfinder yesterday and would like a little help on deciding on the best brand of oil filters for it. After looking over many forum post, I have become confused with what brands are considered best nowdays. It seems like there have been a number of changes in ownership and decreases in quality of a number of the brands. I think I am especially looking for a brand with the highest 20 to 25 micron filtration rate that will still hold together with the best construction. Thanks for all comments back. On a second thought, does anyone know how good the factory Nissan filters are just for comparison?

I have an XTerra.
I use The best filter I can get.
Which seems to be Purolator Boss or The top tier Fram....(at the moment). Opinions vary wildly tho.
I don't think you could go wrong buying an OEM Nissan oil filter.

This is an OIL related forum so you'd expect this question a lot. Some get fatigue over it.
I like to ask questions no matter how many times it's been asked before. Things change.
But doing a search will also give you some fairly updated results.

If you don't mind me adding, just as important as the oil filter......
I'd change the oil more frequently than the manual says. Regardless of the oil used.
Especially on a new engine. I'd change it after the first 100 miles personally....filter too.
You're prone to have more particles of metal and microscopic particles during the early life of a new motor.

I've gone back to using the OEM Nissan filter for my 2017 Frontier. I pay $6.75 for them and they're as good as anything else on the market with regard to build quality. I buy from Z-1 Off Road which is local to me but their price and local dealership pricing is the same. Z-1 gives free stickers so they get my business.

I meant that I have read many post in the last day. I just want to buy the best filter available so that my vehicle last as long as possible because I am not wanting to have to buy a new car again anytime soon. I had always thought that Wix, Purolator, and Mobil 1 were probably the best filters available, but it looks like that may not be true anymore. Where does Bosch fit into the mixture? I was just thinking that there may be a concensus of what are considered the top two or three brands and specific model lines nowdays. It just seems like the quality seems to be slipping based on the post that I have read recently.

I wouldn't say zero ... plenty of studies show cleaner oil means less wear - and what's that thing that filters the oil. Been lots of links to studies and data here over the years - non show that wear is the same with dirtier oil. Just because an engine "still seems to run good" doesn't mean it hasn't worn as the miles rack up.

Oil filter choice will have zero bearing on the life of your car.

Show me one validated double blind study with a statistically large enough sample and significant mean difference in the life of any car with different oil filters
Do some wear study research. Related info has been posted here many times over the years.
