Best Available 75W90 Gear Lube is.....

Let's cut to the chase guys. I am looking for the best available 75W90 gear lube. I am partial to something on the thin side for fuel economy reasons. (So I rule out 75W110 or 75W140). But at the same time, something that will not shear down to a 75W75 or give me long term axle problems.

I have looked at a few names that none one has mentioned in older threads on this forum. Right now, I am leaning towards Amsoil Severe Gear because of the many recommendations. Here are the names:

A) Shaeffer's #293 75W90. (PAO based). Flash point 450F (Wow!). A
Trucking Company nearby will let me draw some of this from
their keg (in my container) for only $3.99/ qt. Anyone with
any experience running it?

B) Maxima 75W90 (Ester Based. Only 13.89 cst@100C, 90 cst@40C
Geared to motorcycles)

C) Red Line 75W90 (Ester Based)

D) ExxonMobil Delvac 75W90

E) Road Ranger FE(Fuel Efficient) 75W90. PAO Based. Also know as Shell Spirax ASX R 75W90 or Emgard FE 75W90 This one looks promising -
15.0 cst@100C, 103 cst@40C, VI of 152, Pour Point of
F) Motul 75W90 (Ester Based).

My application is a restored '94, Cushman Police Truckster (Meter Maid Parking enforcement Golf Cart type vehicle). I only need just 12 ounces to fill it - so cost is of no conern for this small amount. I have been using Mobil 1 75W90 the past several years - with no issues. Other owners have had suffered broken parts in their axles - something I am trying to avoid, so I am shopping around this time around before I drain and fill.

Should I rule out the Ester Based lubricants? I live in Michigan and have heard of some of these type lubricants can "pick up" condensation over the winter and cause (corrosion?) problems.

Amsoil makes a great gear oil, that's what I put in my differential.

But if you can get the Schaeffers for $4 a quart, I'd jump all over that deal, they also make great stuff

Schaeffers's oils and fluids are great and for gear lube at $4/qt is the best buy.

The Schaeffer deal sounds too good to beat.

However, the Mobil 1 is treating you good.

Why change?

I'd stick with the Mobil 1.

Mobil 1 has always served me well. Used the 75W-90 for many years.

I'm currently using motul gear300 in my forester transmission and rear diff. However, that deal on shaeffers is silly good.

I'm under warranty so I'm sticking with certified products. Gear300 is GL-4 and GL-5 rated, which was important for me. Downside was price...

I really wish I could get shaffer gear oil in the Dallas area. Everyone has the engine oil, no one has the gear oil.

Thats a smoking deal on the #293. However I used Amsoil Severe Gear 75w110 in my Tacoma and have not noticed a fuel economy loss. (other than lifting and adding bigger tires) Not sure what I'll run next, but the Ams should last awhile.

I would head on down to that trucking company and get me some. It's a very good gear oil.

If you can, post up a picture of that restored meter maid vehicle.

I also used Amsoil Sever Gear 75w110 in a truck differential with no loss in mpg over Nissan 80w90.
