Cutting open a Bendix 5008414 air dryer canister. It's a non-oil coalescing filter which does not have the paper roll media around the desiccant body to absorb oil before it reaches the desiccant media. Very common part used in Bendix AD-9si, AD-SP, and AD-IS dryer housings. This was pulled out of a Peterbilt 389 w/ Cummins ISX15 engine (not sure on exact compressor model.)

About maxxed out my oil filter cutter.

Canister top removed from desiccant body. The spring kicked some of the media to the cover, it's open to air to travel down the media.
The media seems to be in good condition still, not showing any blackening from excessive oil contamination, etc.

Media emptied from body. Showing the top and bottom paper wafers that keep the media from getting into the air system when the air system is charging, and blowing out when the air dryer is purging.

Air dryers are probably the best invention next to sliced bread lol. I've driven trucks with no air dryers and the green mustard that comes out of the air tanks from draining daily is nasty. I still drain my air tanks weekly and like it when no water comes out of the tank drains.
