Belts last forever!?

I love the Goodyear Gator back belts. Changed the accessory belt on my Corolla to one of them and it was quiet as could be.

It's a tough decision for some engines, my 97 mitsubishi with low mileage I decided to have the timing belt changed after 8 years but only 30,000 miles. An Interference engine. Well, the belt was still fine. problem is on this engine it costs as much to peel off the parts to look at the timing belt as it does to replace it so a tough decision to make and spend $600 plus to replace. Yea, cheaper than a new engine but wish there were an easier way to view timing belts. Will I go longer than 8 years next time, not sure. Other belts are an indicator but never know .

Yeah, but they'd have just put another belt from the dealer parts bin on instead of a superior aftermarket belt....

I purchased the truck in Indianapolis (80 miles away), stopped at the local chevy dealer on the way home and they were the ones that said my warranty... that i purchased with the truck would not cover the part or labor and that it was a regular wear item, I called back up to Indy and they said as a good faith repair they would take care of it at there location, i did the math, it would have cost me more in fuel not to mention my time.. than what i paid for the gatorback. it took be 10 minutes to install the new belt.

Belt life depends on the car.
Many Toyota 2AZ-FE engines need a new serp belt after 30,000 miles, yet in most other Toyotas the belt lasts 100,000 miles or more.

needed a new hydraulic tensioner in mine at 60k miles, due to slow leak. Also replaced the belt then.
