Hi Guys
I just replaced the alternator in my 06 Yaris. The bearings were toast in the previous alt. Now when the car is on, the battery light is dim, not fully lit but dim. It is hard to notice it during the day, but at night you can definitely see it.

The battery is about 1 year old, and charges fine. Could there be something wrong with the new alternator ?

cheers
nik

Possibly if you have a meter you can check output. Check the wire in the back of the alt also and the cables on the bat.

Was the Alt an autozone special POS?

I would venture a guess that the indicator light “turn off feature” inside the alt is malfunctioning. It is very low tec in most cases on how the light is turned off with idiot light systems. If your old alt was still charging and was replaced just due to bearings with no indicator light problems before the part change then logic would dictate the replacement alt to be faulty!
Just like the other posts I am curious as to what vender you purchased the replacement alt from. There are a lot of poorly rebuilt alternators out there.

Bad regulator. But it's in the alternator, so bring it back.
Having problems with rebuilds is common. The warranties are good, but you generally WILL use them!
Bosch makes good rebuilds.
