Looks like a great board here with a good wealth of knowledge. I found this BBS through one of the Porsche BBS's I frequent often.
Here's my question(s) and hope this is the appropriate forum. I recently purchased a used 1995 Honda Civic (1.6l VTEC) with 46K miles. The previous owner was pretty meticulous about maintenance and had the car dealer serviced until the 'free' service ran out. After that, he continued with the recommended OCI with conventional oil. The car was his college commuter until he moved to Washington DC, where he used it for inner city driving, putting on only 5k miles in the past 5 years.
Considering this car has been sitting for a while with stop/go short commutes in between, I'm sure it has accumulated some sludge, possible dried gas in the fuel system, etc. Before I change the oil (will be switching to M1), I'd like to baseline the engine(clean the fuel system, combustion chambers, oil galleys, etc) so I can have a fresh start for a long, healthy life.
A few days ago I ran 20oz of Techron Fuel System Cleaner in a low tank of gas and drove the car hard, trying to clean out any heavy stuff. I will be doing another Techron treatment with a full tank for my commute home. I've read Seafoam if a good combustion chamber cleaner if used through the intake, and also works well if used through the fuel system.
Just trying to get some advice on where to start and what to do next to clean out the engine before I switch to M1.
