There was a thread a week or so ago suggesting the filtering capabilities (in microns) was much better for a Baldwin than Wix. I have both a Baldwin and a WIX for my Cummins and they look identical down to the coloring of the plastic, shrink wrap. They appear to be identical.

Never ending topic on the Duramax forum. It seems Baldwin and Racor are well thought of, ACDelco next (does not apply..) then every thing else is [censored]. I've used NAPA Gold (Wix) for everything and that diesel filter is soundly dissed. The Duramax version has a plastic (?) casing. Maybe for your Ram it's different.

I had a Wix one I was using as a gasoline filter (custom setup on the Bug). The element somehow became detached (?) and was just floating around in the canister, not filtering anything. I found this out when I cut it open after about a year of service. When I spun it off, I could hear something knocking around inside.

I'm using a Baldwin now. It's defintely not the same thing as the Wix was.

if its for your 99 it doesn't' really matter. the bladwin Pf7977 has a micron rating of 5 @ 98%
the wix is 7 @ 98%.
it's when you get into the CR 03+ that you need the 2 micron rating.
just because they look the same doesn't mean they are. can you see the difference from 5 and 7 micron? don't think so, but your injectors and VP44 sure can.

So your suggesting I only use the Baldwin?
