Removed a Baldwin B35-S from a Chev 4.3 L engine and cut it open.I could see the center tube did not come down to the base when it was new.It WILL mash down on the media at the base when pressure is applied at both end caps. When put to-gether at the factory the spring pressure is kept to a minimum to negate the fact it's pressure MIGHT distort/tear the media...a cheap, stupid way to ruin an otherwise great filter design. Will be going with the NAPA Gold on the next filter change with this customer.Too bad Baldwin does this chinzee move...I like the design of the larger B2 for my 4.0L Jeep engines and will still buy these for that application..shame on Baldwin engineers
by the way the Mobil 1 filter I cut open was still "built like a tank"inside and looked great...I cut everything open
