balancing a drive shaft ?

Sounds like a faulty ujoint or bearings in the rear differential going south allowing the R&P to not be held in place.
 
had new u joints put in 3 weeks ago, so maybe its the bearing in the rear diff, going back in the shop tuesday
 
took the driveshaft to the machine shop and the guy said there is rubber in the driveshaft that has worn out, and he is pretty sure this is probably making my 4runner vibrate. anyone ever heard of rubber in the driveshaft ?

Drive shafts with a sliding yoke will have rubber seals in them.

Any seal will eventually wear but these are usually greased serviced with a zerk on the shaft itself.

What I have found with Toyota pickups though is that 4x4 models are usually the only ones with grease zerks as it is assumed you will use the 4x4 in inclement conditions were water is more prone to get in. The 4x2 models will usually have what is called "lubed for life" and just means whatever the life it wears out at.

Did you ever get your center support bearing looked at?

A cool trick that I used to do many years ago was to find a guys car that I didn't like in a parking lot and add about 6oz of old wheel weights to the inside of a couple of wheels.....

maybe someone found your Yota ?? .

Take it to a heavy duty truck/fleet type shop. One that custom builds driveshafts.

You can get a driveshaft built and high speed balanced for 250 dollars, it will be better than the factory shaft also.

The shop around here is FleetPride, you may have soemthing similar near you.
