When I remove the cap on my mom's 07 Impala, I hear a rush of air and a few ounces of coolant flows from the radiator to the overflow bottle. Is that a sign of a bad cap? Everything else is normal and all the air is bled from the system after I drained and refilled the system a few weeks ago. This is with a stone cold engine.

Thanks!

Yea, I guess it is coolant. I said this happens when the engine is completely cold. I wouldn't open a radiator cap on an engine that's hot.

That actually SHOWS the cap is working. It held pressure until you opened it. If the car is not overheating or running hotter than normal, it's fine.

If you want to replace it for safety sake, it is not an expensive part.

Thanks GMBoy; I've never had a vehicle do this but I guess all is well. Thanks for your help previously with questions about our 07 Impala.
