According to a guest on a FOX News program (he was Iranian) Iran is doing everything possible to prevent democracy in Iraq. And he also said that Iran is openly stating that it has enriched nuclear fuel and will be willing to sell to other countries.

The Mullahs ruling Iran want to maintain an extremely conservative Moslem state even though much of the population wants a more moderate government. They have not gotten the message yet.

Ooooooooooooooh it does sound to me like they got the message. A stable democracy in Iraq would make for an unstable theocracy in Iran. No rational person sees setting up a stable democracy in Iraq as easy. No despot sees it as desirable. George Bush has a lot of undesirable people worried about what he might do next. Not all bad as I see it.

The theocracy in Iran is already unstable and has been for at least 5 years. I huge, young population combined w/ a repressive society makes Iran an extremely unstable place. The clerics there are like the guy racing around trying to keep about 15 plates spinning on sticks - he's doing it now, but its getting more and more difficult.

I am afraid to say that I think the best case is that it will take a prolonged military presence to keep democracy intact until it is deeply ingrained into thier culture, and all calls for revenge agains whatever sect hurt them have quieted. Anyone else heard from returning soldiers that the only thing the population as a whole understands is force, as long as that remains true peace as we know it can not happen?

The message is that it is time for a change in the Middle East. Young people will not settle for the type of governments that have existed up until now in the Middle East. The young people know about the outside world thanks to travel, education in foreign countries, and the internet. Anybody from the Middle East who obtained an education in Europe or the United States should know that there is better to be had in this world, unless that person is flat out blind.

Give people democracy and most people like it.
