The Manfred Mann song I'm familiar with most from my youth was Sha La La (?) I was in a Beatles phase; I thought the bridge sounded like the Beatles. Then the Doo Whaa Diddy .. thing, which is not my Cuppa.

The lyrics Warstud posted mark the first time I've ever been aware of the entire song's words. Manfred Mann, like a lot of "performers" nowadays and back into the '60s, sang it so mushmouthed that I had no idea.

The words do have a strange sort of power, though don't ask me to define it.

. . . Last sorry --- verse:

~ Madman drummers bummers, Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat
~ In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat
~ With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin' kinda older, I tripped the merry-go-round
~ With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin, the calliope crashed to the ground
~

Oh, so that's what he was singing. I always thought he was referring to "barium squeezin'."

I always thought that song went "Wrapped up like a (feminine product), a high roller in the night."

Nothing more to say/ devils on his way?! sonds like a fill in to me - though it was warning of the end of the song - thankfully.

Stairway was just bad metaphor.

What's up with the "Big legged woman aint go no soul?" Still working on that one.

I don't know, Superstition is a great song and the line about the Devil fits in with the rest of the lyrics, which are about various superstitious things people believe in.
As for Stairway To Heaven, Plant himself said it's about greed.
Of course, "...you know sometimes words have two meanings..."

The song was actually about a family dog that ran away or came up missing, or so I have read.

OOPs somebody already said that.
"Shannon", a song written about the passing of Beach Boy Carl Wilson's Irish Setter of the same name. The single went gold and became a worldwide hit, reaching #6 on the USA charts in 1976.

That reminds me of a sig that XS650 had at one time.

If you play the MS Vista disc backwards you hear a demonic verse. Worse yet, playing it forward installs Windows Vista (paraphrased from memory)

One of my favorite song's, but I don't have a clue what he is talking about. Procol Harum 1967

We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray

And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, there is no reason
And the truth is plain to see.
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as wellve been closed
She said, Im home on shore leave,
Though in truth we were at sea
So I took her by the looking glass
And forced her to agree
Saying, you must be the mermaid
Who took neptune for a ride.
But she smiled at me so sadly
That my anger straightway died

If music be the food of love
Then laughter is its queen
And likewise if behind is in front
Then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
Seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
And attacked the ocean bed

Not really a bad lyric, but one of my favorite lyrics of all time. From Suicidal Tendencies "You Can't Bring Me Down"

Just cause you don't understand what's going on ...don't mean it don't make no sense
And just cause you don't like it,...don't mean it ain't no good
And let me tell you something
Before you go taking a walk in my world,...you better take a look at the real world
Cause this aint no Mr. Rogers Neighborhood
Can you say "feel like ____?"Yea maybe sometimes I do feel like ____
I aint happy about it, but I'd rather feel like sh#t than be full of ____!
And if I offended you, Oh I'm sorry, But, maybe you need to be offended
But here's my apology and one more thing........_______!
Cause you can't bring me down

No but if people keep trying to bypass the censor there will be some action taken.

If the censor is taking out your word folks, DO NOT try to be cleaver and type something with _ or $ or something else.

We are all adults and please respect the board and its rules.

Thanks in advance! Bill

my contribution.
