Last night I bought a new Echo PB-500T blower - replacing my Troy-Built.
My Troy-Built was noisy but I put up with it for awhile. Then the recoil doohickey thing broke. It is built (molded) within the plastic housing grrrrrrrr
Echo - not near as noisy - works swell - NGK plug - holds a good bit of gas - 5 year consumer warranty + my weed whacker is a Echo - but my mower is a Honda HRX

Hoping this Echo blower last and works as well as my Echo weed whacker - I just hate buying OPE for some reason. Yes it makes life easier, but I'd rather run engines that I don't mind [motorcycles, boats etc]

Echo make great OPE. I have several pieces. Even one of my lawn mowers is an Echo and it's over twenty years old and still running strong. Run the carb and fuel tank dry for long term storage and it should be fine.

Get the new E0 gas and oil premix in a can. Run it on that for the last run of the season. After buying it a secondary benefit will come to your mind. $4.00/gallon for gas (for my car) is not that bad. The premix is twice that per QT.

Well after a good bit of use this past week, I think I'm going to be real happy with it. Seems like I spent several hours moving tons of leaves - it did well.
Even let one of my neighbors use it for about a half hour or so - today his wife came over to ask me about it - where I got it and cost. I think he is getting one for a gift.
Worked swell drying off one of the Harley's after a wash.
I have to say I can't say anything bad about this one except I need to be a little more careful - it will re-arrange some of the outdoor x-mas decorations

You can actually buy the plastic housing with the recoil starter already installed. I can't remember how much it costs...somewhere around $30-$40 I think.

But upgrading to an Echo was definitely a better idea. They are solid, well designed machines.

Ha! I bought the exact same one 1 1/2 months ago!

I use 92 Octane, NO Ethanol + 2-stroke oil.

LOVE it! No issues. It also works great blowing out the garage.

I think that Echo model is the one Billy Murray used to clean his living room on CaddyShack.

I bought the same unit about 2 months ago and love it. I use the blower almost daily, we have several huge pecan trees in our yard. The echo always starts on the second pull. I replaced my pb250 with the backpack 500. I use mid-gas and the echo 2-stroke oil.
