I need to perform background search on a possible temp I want to hire.
Which sites are legit and thorough?

so I saw a site called instantcheckmate,
any suggestions?

Didn't the temp service already perform this check for you?

And anyway, the requirements are the same, so you should exempt them based on the fact that the employee already passed.

You could always ask the agency what service they use.

did some research instantcheck is a scam/fake.

I am not going to through temp agency but hiring a temp employee myself :-)

For my job I do it myself. Never used any. You can go to the court. Use Google. US search free to see where they have lived.
You can do a lot yourself

I would ask the temp agency for their background check on the person. They should have done all that stuff before they represent them. I temped for a short time when I lost my job and the agency did the background check.

What kind of position is it for? If he/she will be supervised, I'd hire the cheapest person who can do the job. A background check shows you who they were. Not who they are. I've worked with some pretty sketchy individuals, and most of them can work circles around some squeaky clean guy.

I'm a fed, and I sometimes have to find people whom my agency wants very badly.

The civilian databases I use are called Clear (by Thomson Reuters) and Accurint. If you really want to dig, order a Clear "Comprehensive Report".

I am not sure how filtered the info would be for a civilian wanting to use their services, but for my purposes those two databases work quite well in filling in the blanks.
