I have a 15 year old Murry mower with a 5 hp B&S Quantum engine, it runs great, or did until this year, when it would only run with the choke on. Pulled an cleaned the Walbro carb only to find the Fixed jet (which is a kind of Nut that holds the float bowl on) was plugged up. My Brother in-law offered to clean the jet in his parts washer, only impatience got he better of him, and he reamed the jet with a wire or something, Now my mower Runs far too rich!
I'm trying to replace the jet either with an original (it's marked with a #31) or an adjustable jet. It seems this item is not included in a Walbro service kit. I have tried to track the part on line, but I always get asked for a part #

If you posted the engine #'s, maybe we could help.
I don't know why he reamed them. A wire tie from a loaf of bread works just fine.

O.K. Model; 124702 Type; 311602 Code; 90062656
But what I think is more to the point, It's a fixed Jet from a Walbro Carb with the # 31 marked on it.
I hope this helps.

B&S part# 493869.
I wouldn't expect your local B&S dealer to have it in stock, but he should be able to get it in a couple days.
He possibly could also have a junker carb laying around??

Local small engine guy is a real jerk, not interested in selling parts at all "Leave it here, it'll be 6 weeks, I'm busy"
Thanks!
