Avg MPG Meter on '16 Ford Fiesta

Are these things accurate? On my 2014 Hyundai Elantra, I got about 24 MPGs around town and mid 40s on the highway which seemed accurate.

On my 2016 Fiesta I avg about 30 around town and what seems to be about 45 MPGs on the highway.

If this is right, it's sure an improvement over my Elantra city MPGs.

in my experience yes it is quite accurate, realizing that when you are in the 45 mpg range, the calculation based on actual use is sensitive to how full you fill the tank.

And a 5% improvement on a vehicle that gets 15 mpg is .75 mpg. On one that gets 45, it's 2.25 mpg, so it seems more noticeable.

I have the 3 cylinder ecoboost and find that it is very sensitive to speed. At 75 mph, I get about 39 mpg. At 50 mph I get 70+ mpg and anything in between depending on what speed I'm willing to drive (e.g. 60 at 60). I'm getting about 34 mpg in town. Seems like it used to be higher, but maybe its new tires and some other factors.

I'm not familiar with the 3 cylinder Eco Boost. Sounds like a fun car to drive and own.
I like this car much better than my bigger Hyundai Elantra.

To me, all that matters is what you average over a whole tank of fuel.

With our little bare bones 2015 Nissan Versa, the dash meter can go in the 40-50mpg range at times, or as low as 5-10 if you are flooring it up a long incline.

At the end of the day, the hand calculated average over a tank is about 34mpg, where the average per the dash readout is 35-36mpg.

I always hand calculate, it's usually a little bit higher than the computer says.

Estimated MPG is NOT based on the fuel tank meter.

It is calculated on typical injector flow.

On my 2017 Fiesta SE, I am getting 29-41, with A/C on full bast this summer. I have an average driving style, usually go 70-75 on the highway.

And when I fill up again I'm going to add a bottle of Gumout All In One with PEA as suggested here.

I do fuelly. If I let mine go for 10 tanks it is right on the money but if I do by tank it is off by as much as 2 mpg either way

It is fun to drive, kind of like a 4 wheel motorcycle. Very light in the front end so handles well.

It's the European engine for places that have $8/gal gas. The amount of technology in a little economy car is amazing. Probably not so great for long term durability, but time will tell.
