Average car Overfilled 1 qt. anyone ever see this cause a problem?

I overfill my 05 Scion tC 2AZFE engine by .5qt, sometimes more. Never a problem.

I see there are youtube videos where people get very concerned about just .5 qts over filled, and they go about draining some oil. Has anyone here witnessed a problem with overfilling the oil of a typical car with 1 qt. or less?

I've personally never overfilled however, I've read stories of folks who did and some paid the ultimate price. Including having to buy
a new motor/engine.

I did just do a '10 Honda Crosstour and best info I could find was 4.5.

I put in 4.5 (eyeballing a new 5qt jug, so there's human judgment and visual perception involved), fired it to fill filter (I did pre-fill a little), let it sit ~25 minutes and checked the dipstick. It was very decidedly at the TOP-TOP of the hatch marks.

I think if I had dumped in the full 5 qts it would be very noticeably over the full line, which would make me feel like a hack.

That said, if this were a known oil burner like a Subaru with a driver I know never opens the hood, that extra would just buy them more time. Kinda like taking a leaky tire to 40 -- it'll be at the ideal 32psi soon enough

My daughter’s Acura takes 4 3/4 quarts. I pour the whole 5 quart jug in.

F150 takes 7.7. Darn sure I drop 8 in.

And people feel like a newb if they don’t titrate in 3.7 in 4

In all seriousness no one has even listed an engine that specifies 4 and 5 will cause harm. Just not going to happen. Not advising 6-7-8 qts+ but the answer to the question is 1 quart over is harmless

I'm on heavy pain meds from back surgery.....and I luv em ......But, their gonna start cuttin me down slowly soon. I know their routine, ( 2nd back surgery ). They don't want no addicts on their hands. Meanwhile, what DIDN'T I ingest in the 1980's ???? Aaaahhh, the decade of decadence !!! Never went to no re-hab. Funny story, Con-Ed ( the utility company I slaved for, for 36 yrs ).......They said " In 1990, Management said " OK men ! You have 1 year to clean yourselves up. Random drug testing starting in 1991 " So, that was it. Cold Turkey. I'd say 1/4 of the Union guys got caught and fired in 1991. That was a lot of guys boy. LOL ...They just couldn't quit.

Many owners manuals will explain that if the oil level is checked according to the mfr directions and the dip stick shows inbetween the full and add indicators you should leave it alone....I prefer to keep the level in all my cars in the middle of those two points.

I used to overfill my 1995 SL2 Saturn oil burner. Never affected anything.
Anywhere from 1/2 to 1 quart, but mostly 1 quart. That way I felt less need to add more oil.
I paid $700 for it from a guy in NJ many years ago, maybe 2002 with 80,000 miles.
I sold it 5 years ago for $800.
It ran great and got almost 30 mpg with 224,000 miles.
All it ever needed was brakes and tires. Had an AUTO trans.
One time the trans needed a shift solenoid, did it myself.
The car body never rusted being plastic.
The fuel pump never failed, I never changed the fuel filter, it never needed axle work.
I experimented with different kinds of oils, including adding old gear oil, thinking thicker better, but really thinner was better.
The only thing that slowed down the oil use was using old ATF, like Dexron GM Merc ATF.
