Last year, I was camping with my son and we met a guy on his Polaris four wheeler. I noticed his phone he was using for navigation had very detailed topographical maps and he told me the app he was using was Avenza Maps. If you do any offroad driving/hiking then this is a pretty cool option.
- Once you download it, you can click "Discover" to search for a map. Some are free and some you can pay to get.
- Maps are topographic in detail
- Phone can be put in airplane mode and it will still track your navigation in realtime
- You can save your trip for future reference. It includes info on mileage and altitude change.
- You can click on a point on a map and navigate to it
