This is pretty cool. All self contained, and easy to mount.


It's just a pre-filled tube under pressure that acts a heat activated "fusible link"; ie, the fire melts the tube and release the extinguishing agent.

The T200E seems to be the one I'd need.

Seems to be a low key mod to protect those classic cars from a carb fire due to intake backfire, or a fuel spray fire due to a hose break.
 
Engine fires are so rare these days, I don't see a significant market. The hood liners on modern cars are designed to drop down and smother the fire anyway. On classic cars, it wouldn't fly in a concours event.
 
I have long believed that an automatic fire suppression system would be great to haven under the hood. Maybe it’s just from my days in the fire department where such devices would have proved invaluable. 👨‍🚒
