ANy experience/concerns using ARX with 99 VW PAssat and the reported sludge issues (170K)? No problems known thus far. Also any issues using ARX with very high mileage VW Golf (340K)? Runs great. No engine work done. Probably pretty dirty.

I've run it in two very old vehicles, both around 140k. One was 10 years old the other more than 20 years old. The stuff worked great and I had no negative issues. They weren't a Passat though, but my neighbor is just starting his treatment with Passat. He practically lives in his car and it has 200k miles on it. We were talkign and he said he thought he had a sludge issue, so I truned him on to ARX. We'll see how it goes...

Shelby,

Any increase in gas mileage after ARX ???

Does you state do emission testing, if so.....Did your car get lower emission levels after ARX ?? Thanks

Here is something i was wondering/thinking about. People often say not to use fully synthetic oil in an older high-milage engine because slude can actually help to maintain the seal at any fault points. "using synthetic oils with ahigh milage motor may actually cause more leaks" or so they say. now if this is true...............why using ARX be just as bad?

My gas milage is way up, but that is because my Truck was way under the average MPG for this vehicle. I have done lots of stuff to this, firm shocks and many additives like Autorx and general maintenance, so it's hard to say what actually gave me better MPG.

Smog numbers are way down also, but again I was planning on replacing this engine becasue it was in such bad shape. Probably even a straight oil change would have gotten me better numbers. I lost my dang smog sheet in a move, but soon as I find it I will update my smog test thread.

Frank says arx will condition seals and the dino rinse helps them firm back up...

What is this Auto-RX stuff everyone raves about, and claims to do it all? Reading recent threads, what DOESNT it do?

AFAIK Auto-Rx is only available mail order, online at the above link.
I have seen it touted around as a suggestion to use on different forums for all kinds of ailments, not from the producer. From my experience* what Auto Rx does, which is clean, it does very well and slowly. What it does not do is fix mechanical issues in your engine, make up for worn out sensors, fix injectors or things it cannot reach, compensate for under inflated tires, or an empty gas tank.

(*experience is with a single used bought '96 Honda C27A4 that had deposits in the valve area from too long OCI's and bad PCV valve, Also used in a very well maintaned F250 7.3L diesel and a very neglected McLane edger engine, results are depoits are greatly reduced in the valve area of the Honda as can bee seen by looking in PCV and oil fill holes and increased mpg by ~2mpg presumably by some cleaning of the rings and a decrease in darkening of the oil in equal number of miles with each subsequent OC. The 7.3 motor no change but not opened before or after and was used strictly as preventative measure so no change expected in operation, too many other variables to note any affect on mpg of fuel. )

What Auto-RX seemed to do for me was stop a small seal leak in a Saturn SL2 car I used to own. It would have cost a lot of money to fix that seal leak by replacing the seal (engine would have to have been removed). Nothing else I used stopped the leak. I even used a product that was supposed to stop seal leaks with no luck.

I think Auto-RX will potentially stop seal leaks if there is no physical damage to the seal and only maybe some sludge buildup on the seal is causing the seals to dry out. I also think that Auto-RX is a good slow internal engine cleaner.

But Auto-RX is not magic and will not fix damaged engine parts. Physically damaged seals and damaged engine parts will remain dmaged after Auto-RX is used.
