Sorry, no need to start another war.

I also agree about reading the many other threads here. I've certainly done much of that.

You have not read everything, JMO.

I guess I'm just impatient.

Auto-Rx works slowly, that's what arx says. There are other products that work faster.

No, I have not read everything. I'm no genius or a speed reader.

But, the search engine on this site is fabulous. I've used it an awful lot and read years worth of posts in the additive and the bypass sections. I've learned a lot.

Am I convinced additives work? Some I feel certain of (Techron, Schaeffer products, Lubegard products, MMO). Do I question others? Absolutely! Are there others like Lube Control, Liqui-Moly and others (RVS) that I have a great interest in...yes!

Do I feel certain of ARX....no I don't. I really learned about it here. I gained my willingness to try from you guys. It seems to have a better affinity for success on certain types of vehicles/engines. Have I identified a trend? No I have not. It "seems" to work best on higher revving applications but I've also read about success with V8's too. There is not much information on it's success with load bearing, low RPM applications like tractor trailers, motorhomes or towing gasoline engines. Hence my trepidation.

I chose ARX because I had leaks and few others seemed to achieve as successful results. That has already proven itself to me. So, that surely adds to one's confidence.

Will it do anything for my oil pressure concerns. To be honest...I doubt it. I think it may be a mechanical problem. Nonetheless, load bearing oil pressure is excellent. I'll change the sending unit after the rinse cycle. We'll see.

I'll keep checking in as I go. Thanks for the input, greatly appreciated. Keep your opinions coming!

You talked abut adding a larger full flow filter. I put a STP S383(CHAMP)oil filter on my 91 305 engine to see if it would help with the occasional lifter ticking I hear when starting cold engine in cold or cool weather, and I can say it did help to get rid of the ticking noise. I run 10W-40 conventional or blend HM oil in cold weather and 20W-50 in hot weather. I think that the additional oil filter surface area may help with flow of thick, cold oil. At least that is one theory and I may use more of these filters.

You know that RTS T6 is a bit "thinner" (lower hot viscosity) than RTS used to be, right?

BTW, that S383 is about twice as long as the regular S5 or PH5-sized small block filter. I did notice that it has no ADBV, but that does not seem to be a problem.

I do not mean to thread jack. When starting the Auto-RX cleansing, do you just add the Auto-RX or do you withdraw a certain amount of motor oil that you would add with the Auto-RX?

Add the ARX first before adding the rest of the oil the next time you do an oil change. Or, like you said, draw off some oil. Doing it the first way is easier.

Just to report back in...

I'm at 3000 miles now and will continue the cleaning cycle to 5k.

At this point signs of change include;

Lower oil pressure (still at hot idle running at 20psi. 50 psi at 65 mph)
"Service engine soon" light come on and then goes off.
Tranny now has a "squawk" between 2nd & 3rd gear. Takes a heavy pedal to produce.
No engine noises whatsoever.
Mileage up 2-4 mpg depending on my driving (this vehicle has always been bad).
Running super smooth and definitely quieter.
Went through 1 quart of oil in 3000 miles.
No leaks...ARX solved all the leaks I had in the first 1000 miles.
Oil is a darker brown now.

I'm going to change my oil and filter before my fishing trip in August. I'll be going to Schaeffer oil then. I'm going to use their #132 Moly additive as well (after two treatments).

That's all I've got for now.
