Hey all,

I have a 2001 Mustang GT that just passed 51,000 miles. I just purchased Auto-Rx and plan to do a single application. The car is due for an oil change so I will be starting with fresh oil and filter.

Here is my plan

1. Change oil (Mobil 1 5W30) and Filter (Motorcraft).

2. Add 12ounces of Auto-Rx.

3. Drive 1800 miles (will be done in a span of 5 days on a trip to Florida).

4. Change Oil (Mobil Clean 5000 5W30) and filter (Motorcraft)

5. Drive 3000 miles (will be done in a span of 2 months of commuting 80 miles per day)

6. Change Oil (Mobil 1 5W30) and Filter (Mobil 1).

My questions are:

Is there any difference between a synthetic vs non-synthetic at the cleaning phase? I typically run Mobil 1 and figured I would stick with it during that phase. Would I be better off using the Mobil Clean 5000 during the cleaning phase if only because it is cheaper and I am going to be draining it at 1800 miles anyway. Any comments on this would be greatly appreciated.

Regarding the cleaning phase. I know the recommendation is 1500 miles at a minimum. Is there any problem with doing those miles in 5 days? Does Auto-Rx need time as well as miles to break down the sludge in the motor?

Thanks

Use cheap dino for your cleaning.

Do your mileage as you please ..extend if inconvenient to change right on schedule.

Rinse with cheap dino.

You can add in auto-rx into a synthetic if you're not trying to fix a leak.

Just go longer on the cleaning phase. The esters compete for surface area and therefore it takes longer to clean.

Personally, I'd just change it (and I do).
