Auto-Rx cleans ring packs.Auto-Rx in a maintenance amount keeps engine clean, seals pliable (don't have to do another Auto-Rx application)We hope you understand Auto-Rx is "NOT" a flush. There is no conventional or synthetic oil that does more than surface clean.

If your oil lubricated rotating parts are "deep cleaned" you can use any oil or oil additive and increase not only the performance of the oil increase in mpg also. No oil or oil additive can lubricate through dirt.

Oil chemistry require a baseline of clean metal or you wasted your money.

No other product does what Auto-Rx does. The Auto-Rx Guarantee says it all.

Amen.

It's funny to hear people say (on this board) that DELO-type oils clean an engine. Yes, it make is CLEANER over a the long haul, but doens't acutally CLEAN the engine.

Frank, please elaborate more about how a-rx makes seals pliable. Does this extend their life, etc?

I am on the 1000 mile clean phase of my second AutoRx treatment. I have a 1997 2.2L AWD Subaru with 175K miles that had been averaging between 26 to 27 mpg overall.

The vehicle is now averaging between 28 to 29 mpg. Other than adding a bottle of Techron to the tank a few months ago, I haven't done anything else to the vehicle, so chances are the AutoRx is responsible for my mileage gains.

I drive 100 miles per day, so the AutoRx will pay for itself in no time.

Auto-Rx is the best thing since sliced bread for sludge and third party abrasive removal!!!I think the point of useing a good ester based synthetic like Redline,Motul,Synergen,Pentosin,Fuch's Titan etc... is to keep the engine clean to begin with!! Even PAO's will go a long way to keep an engine clean. Now we have all seen where Auto-Rx has even helped vechile run on PAO's their entire life!!! I agree that nothing is going to clean sludge out like AUto-Rx and an oil should not be used to clean an already dirty engine but a persons choice of oils and their OCI do play a huge role in how much stuff is left behind for Auto-Rx to clean out!!!Auto-Rx is only worth while if you need it!

I always point out my prsonel experince with Auto-Rx! It worked great in my cars transmission. My grandmother never had the transmission serviced becasue GM claimed it was good for 100,000 miles! So their was plenty of stuff for AUto-Rx to clean out of it!! The engine on the other hand had been run on Mobil 1 10W30 from 40,000 miles up to 100,000 miles. THeir was no sludge to clean out. It had 109,000 miles on it when I bought it. My uncle had been useing it for the last 9000 miles and takeing it to Jiffy Lube. It had varnish in the head area. Auto-Rx did not touch my varnish and the oil filters from the clean and rinse phase looked like brand new filters inside. Fast foward two years and we have my first use of LC wich easily removed most of the varnish inside of 500 miles!

I think that LC can help keep an engine so clean that Auto-Rx would be of little need. I also wounder what ARX can do for cars seals in newer vechiles that do not use buna but use neoprene, viton, nitrile adn teflon materials? Has ARX been proven to do anything for these material?

I think that their is always going to be more then one path to automotive nirvana. Keeping an engine clean with high quality oils and maybe LC is a far better aproach then waiteing for it to need ARX!ARX's cost to benifit ratio is such that it is a hard sell as a maintence item but an easy sell as a problem solver!!!

JohnBrowning, I agree with almost everything you say here, except for one thing: Frank (and many others here at BITOG) recommend and use ARX in maintenance dosages, too.

You consistent write that ARX's only place is to clean out sludge once it's formed, but clearly it can also be used to prevent its formation in the first place, ala LC.

Personally, I suspect that there is a legitimate place for both ARX and LC in a vehicle owner's maintenance arsenal.

Other than that one point, I agree with your philosopy.

Big Dave, I know it can be used as maintence as well! My point is that is is not cost effective when used as a maintnece item. If you use use 3 onces per oil change as maintence then you get 4 doses out of a bottle of ARX! For about the same money as a 12 once bottle of ARX you can get a gallon of Lube Control! With that gallon of lube control I can get 90,000 miles of maintence dosages! SO my point is about cost effectiveness in application! ARX makes perfect sense if you have a sludge monster or an extremly high milage vechile that might be helped by it! In a healthy engine or a low milage applications LC makes infintely more sense!

Okay, I see where you're coming from. One other situation where LC is more suited to work than ARX, from what I understand, is if the vehicle is using synthetic oil. Maybe it is just when rejuvenating seals where ARX is not to be used with syn oil, I'm not sure. I do know that LC has no such constraint, but it is also not recommended as a seal rejuvenator, as ARX is.

Thanks for you quick response! Great user name, too.

With the difference in gas mileage I'm getting on my vic it will only take roughly 2900 miles before I save enough in gas to pay for the auto-rx.

After that it's pure profit baby! Yay!

I agree with the LC usage as suggested by JohnBrowning. Synthetic oil cleaned my engine out in less than 12,000 miles without any help, but mine had the proper maintenence and only about 36,000 miles of conventional oil usage when I switched. I agree that synthetic won't make a dramatic change quickly but with reasonable OCI's it can make one in time. I remember someone else on this board who was telling me how without the intent, synthetic slowly removed sludge out of his engine over a period of 30,000 miles or something like that. Auto-RX will make it happen in a matter of 3,000-6,000 miles depending on whether it needs two bottles or one. Personally for maintenence cleaning I think LC does a fine job at it and it would be what I would do if my synthetic wouldn't have done the job already. I know that if I bought a car with sludge(which I probably would turn down a car with sludge, but lets say it seems minor), I would use only one bottle of ARX and then use LC from there.

I'll use it if I NEED it, but only then.

That being preventing contamination deposits in the oiling system. Generally speaking ARX is a metal cleaner, that offers enhanced lubricity as a big bonus. ARX has been very successful in many applications of cleaning up motors, as evidenced on this site for years. Once a motor is cleaned up, we need to look at why it was dirty in the first place. Sometimes neglect, extreme operating conditions, faulty parts, such as a cooling system failure, and just the fact that some motors are more proned to sludging when compared to others. It is also quite likely that if deposits start to form, they tend to grow. Reason being that part of the add packs of the new oil are consumed fighting the deposits left behind from the last oil change.
Therefor the add package of new oil may not hang in for the duration of its recommended useful life.

The ARX maintenance dose plan is to use cleaning capability to be sure that oxidized oil is not deposited. LC on the other hand, is designed to prevent oxidation from occuring. Like adding in a secondary antioxidant package to the oil, may be better than the one that was in the oil to start with.

So in a nut shell, ARX, in a maintenance or period use, will clean any deposits that may have occurred. Or you can add LC to keep the oil from oxidizing, and lessening the chance of harmful deposits forming. Once again there are two ways to skin the cat. And then there was the chicken and the egg.

Personally, I have been using ARX in maintenance dose. It is working well. My driving is all short trips and 10% of the time dragging a boat. Not very healthy type miles for any motor. I did an initial cleaning of my motor two years ago. Every third oil change, I throw in a half bottle of ARX at the 1500 mile mark and run out to 3000 miles on the conventional oil. So it costs 10 bucks every 9000 miles. I know its 10 bucks well spent. Posts: 316 | From: North Carolina | Registered: Jul 2002 | IP: Logged | Report this post to a Moderator

All seals are kept pliable by oil used to lubricate the engine-machinery-pump-transmission makes no difference what the seal material is. The seal surfaces have to be clean to keep pliability. Auto-Rx cleans and prepares the seal material for any oil or oil additive to lubricate.

Seal pliability is from oil lubrication however the unit needs to be clean as well as the seals for the oil to lubricate.Seals will last & last if properly lubricated also wear factor goes way down.
