Auto-Rx in Ford Taurus Transmission

First off...I tried searching and got many hits. However I got the message "You have requested a topic that does not exist!" EACH time I tried to open a topic. I have not ordered yet, and I only found application instructions for engines.

Now for the topic:
The car is a 2000 Ford Taurus 3.0 Vulcan. These cars have crappy transmissions. The car had three replaced within the first 30k miles. The car now has 71k miles and is coming up on the second flush/ service.

Questions:

How much should I put in?

Should I drain/ change filter then have it flushed, or flush then drain/ filter change?
The first flush was done without a filter change.

We need this transmission to last another 16 months/ 30k miles until it is paid off.

If you can drain and drop the pan, I would do it. It's pretty easy but mighty messy! Recommend that you replace the pan gasket and the filter or screen if there is one and clean the pan well.

I just did the Auto-RX treatment on a '97 Camry (4cyl w/153,000mi) auto transmission. This transmission has had one T-Tec type total evac and replacement at 120,000 mi.

Prior to the addition of 6ozs of Auto-RX to the transmission, I drained the fluid and removed the pan and screen. Unbelievable amount of fine, graphite-like gook in the bottom of the pan. The 2 magnets there were doubled in size with a fine metal "beard".

After driving ~1300mi with the Auto-RX in the transmission I had a T-Tec type total evac/replacement with bulk dino Mercon/Dexron III. The shop had me sign a waiver that I would not hold them liable if I developed problems after the flush!

So...now the transmission works as good as new. No whiplash shifts from 1st to 2nd and no clunks going from park to reverse. Not sure if the Auto-RX did anything or the fresh fluid is the reason for the improvement but the tech that did the flush warned me to watch for leaks and slipping. They have not appeared after ~500mi post flush.

When I said three transmission's, I wasn't TOTALLY honest. The second time was only the TC. So two transmission and another TC.

Ok guys..ordered RX yesterday. Plan on running it for 1500 miles, then dropping pan, changing filter, then have flush done.

QUESTION:
Is it neccesary to flush a second time??? I really hope not. Thats $100 I feel would be wasted.

It's not necessary to do a second transmission treatment and flush unless you have used other transmission treatments. (Check out the instructions at the AutoRX website) If there is a BJ's Wholesale Club near you check out the Monroe Auto Center's price for a flush. The one here has it for $50.00...and you don't have to be a member. They included the differential at no charge for me.

The only thing I have used is added LC (3 oz) about 6-7k miles ago.

I know that is an additive, but does that constitute another $90-100 flush?

The closest BJ's is nearly 2 hours away.

Thats nothing! My Dads 2002 Honda Civic had 3 transmissions go out in under the 1st 10,000 miles!!! It was a total crap car.

Thanks for the tip - my BJ's has it here for the same - it was an $84.95 service discounted to $49.95 so that's a great deal!

I have a 99 Olds Silhouette minivan w/ 112K miles, the transmission was replaced with factory rebuilt around 40K miles, and I changed the fluid around 80K. About 100K it started shifting crappy again and whining when it got hot - also, it has NO auxillary oil cooler (how stupid is that on a van?!!)
I used Auto-RX for 1000 miles and had it flushed, then I put in a bar & plate type cooler that I got for $30 off ebay. The trans shifts like butter, and hasn't whined since. I will probably do an ARX treatment again in 50K miles...
