Auto insurance

Progressive. I was about to leave because they went from $97 to $139 over 2 years but then they did a reassessment and dropped me back down to $95.

The challenge with that is insurance is transient data in time. It’s not a question with a specific answer .
Exactly. That's why posting is useless..........and anybody doing a search would realize that.

I was with USAA for 20 years and then rates went up and customer service went down. Switched to Plymouth Rock for a while and now I'm with Progressive which saved me something crazy like $3000 per year after I added the new Subaru Forester.

Got my bill from Geico today for the next 6 months. Went up 81 cents. God,
when will it ever end? This is now four 6 month cycles with basically no price increase over the last 2.5 years.

What’s everyone using? For two vehicles in my signature I pay 315 a month with AAA. 500 deductible. I’ve heard adding a 16 year old son is going to double my premiums. I may have to shop around.
My most expensive vehicle is my 2017 Titan and I pay $440 every six months for full coverage and $500 collision deductible. That's with State Farm who also has our house and my boat policies.

@ARB1977 - For your son – look at an older 4 door, 4 cylinder unless when you plug in details all the newer safety things compensate via discounts. Expect scratches in school parking lots not necessarily from him. Both my kids had that issue from others. What they got wasn’t what they wanted but what I could afford. They learned to drive safely. Both went to streetsurvival which I highly recommend. I helped fix the cars up for them. Good tires, brakes, better hands free sound, some better lighting. They help maintain and clean them and the small repairs as needed. They know how to change tires with the factory trunk supplied tools. They check fluids and pressures.

When the kids had after school/part time jobs they helped contribute ½ of their added insurance cost. If you can afford to swing without using that, some parents saved that money for them in a separate account to give back later on for future car/life things.
I agree regarding Street Survival; I coach locally when I have the time. My son's first car was an older four cylinder, but it only had two doors:

Sheesh. Two 8 year old cars. Toyota and Subaru. 500 deductibles. Pay $1800/year with maxed coverages I can get. It doubled a couple years ago and has stayed pretty flat the last few cycles. We bundle our homeowners with $1k deductible with it all and pay $60/mth for our homeowner's. From what people I know tell me, we're getting by pretty cheap from what others are telling me 🤞

But yeah...just shop around. I did last fall and nothing was cheaper. Most were more expensive by quite a bit.

I think that's similar to what happened to us. Big jump 2-3 years ago and then pretty flat since.

California, 3 drivers (our son is 18), 4 old cars, liability only, $1880 every 6 months. I use Costco/connect. Best price I could find and have stopped around many times including trying to bundle with home insurance. It's a rip off these days. The poor are subsidising the "rich" and their expensive cars parked in high fire risk areas is the story out here.

yes, but my increase came when Amer Family jacked me around and wanted to raise me $200+ when I bought the Maverick. Geico came in at a $150 less and since then has slowly gone done to what I paid before a hybrid.

I wonder how many vehicles lost in California fires ?

I have six (!) cars on the road now and Progressive was the best. Many companies didn't want to insure more than four cars on one policy. Baffling. "Here's more business, please refuse it."

Have a 17 year old male licensed driver with an accident on record after which Progressive raised our rates like $130 for a six month term, quite reasonable. His addition to the policy was similarly cheap, $230ish for six months with access to everything including two newer Prii with full coverage and max liability without umbrella.

Had geico for a few years but they went bananas in pricing. Wish I could return for six months to "reset" Progressive to a conquest rate.
