Audi DAZA 5 cylinder tear down video

A good video showing the tear down of the famous and power-hungry Audi 5 cylinder "DAZA" engine from Paul over at Shop DAP. This one is higher mileage (for these) and had been run on ethanol (big power...these can be built for 1000hp!). Very interesting what that does to the oil/inside of the engine and shows that fuel dilution when running E can be something to take into consideration for OCIs regardless of how super your oil is. I was disappointed to not find out what oil this was running but likely Liquimoly based on it being a tuner type of situation and how popular that brand is in those circles.

E85 and the oil choice seems to have been a bad idea for the cams. The bearings are coated and look near perfect as you normally see from IROX (red) / IROX 2 (dark).

If I was a betting man, I'd say more frequent oil changes on this engine and that cam wear would probably not have been there. That bottom sump was nasty!
