ATS Chemical 505 CRO

I came across this product on a Scotty Kilmer video, so I thought I would revive this thread instead of starting another. A good 2-1/2 years have since passed since the last post here, and I wondered if anyone has had any further positive experiences with both of these oil and fuel system products?

The one thing I wondered about is the whole, "15 minute fast idle at 2,000 RPM". Why not simply drive the vehicle for a half hour at various speeds? One would think having the pistons under a slight load at different RPM's would help with the carbon removal.

Does anyone know why idling is prefered over driving, like most additives on the market? Obviously the fuel treatment is to be driven through the engine over a tankful..... Why not the same for the oil treatment?

Idling at any speed is much easier on the journal bearings in the engine than running under load (driving). If you're going to compromise the engine oil with any additives I would not recommend doing any driving, idle only and keep the revs down (under ~50%).

It is how those "we drained out the oil and the engine keeps running!" (Castrol?) commercials worked.

I cut open my filters and I check my drained oil for debris. If nothing gets caught between the two I count the "flsuh" product as a waste. I understand this is not a great way to decide but short of tearing the engine down not a great way to tell.

I have used the fuel system cleaner, seems to work very well. First time I used it, it seems to have clogged up a sensor, which to me at least meant it was working - the mechanic said it probably knocked a good chunk of carbon off, 1999 Ford Mustang six, maybe 200,000 miles at the time. I use it about once a year, I think every other oil change is overkill - I also make sure to use top tier gas, which in San Diego area includes Costco, ARCO, and many others - not more expensive.

How did you know it worked very well?

Ford has monitored the fuel system over time, years ago I paid to have a cleaning done, and they were able to restore it to almost new, level 2 I think - other than that, it seems like it improves performance a bit, no fuel system problems, cat converter has lasted a long, long time -
