I came across this ad in Jeggs for a rebuilt Chevy 6.0 V-8 engine from ATK. Anyone ever get an engine from ATK? I don’t need one yet but was looking at options down the road.

A very long time ago we used to use a fair number of them at a shop i worked at. Rarely an issue.

Also a very long time ago, we put a 5.0 Ford in my roommates truck from ATK. The rear main leaked and they took care of it.

Same as nutech autozone and powertorque oreillyauto

ATK partnered with rebuilder in Mexico, is enough for me not to buy it. My rebuilt in Mexico calipers had broken/sheared pins in the bore. Quality is for you to gamble on.

My recommendation is to overpay for an OE crate engine, or find a quality local rebuilder/machine shop.

Couldn't be much worse than anything from Jasper...

Honestly... when you ship out an engine with a failed lifter, that starts knocking as soon as it is installed? That's some top notch quality, right there.

If this has cylinder deactivation, then get with a local rebuilder to have it built without that stuff. The money you save in fuel from the deactivation will never pay for all the unnecessary stuff and problems.

When I lived in Tampa, FL., before Advance Auto Parts came along, Rose Auto Parts, then Discount Auto Parts, were the local parts stores. AAP bought them out. All 3 chains carried ATK engines. I never used them but know of people that did, with great results. No problems that I had ever heard of.

Thanks for the post and good point with some of the 5.3s. The 6.0 did not have it. :)
