ATF vs Power Steering Fluid. Which is superior ???

If your vehicles power steering could use either a DEX IID/III fluid, eg. Redline D4 ATF or Castrol Transmax Z, or a dedicated power steering fluid, eg. Redline Power Steering Fluid or Texaco Cold Climate power steering fluid, which is superior in terms of reduced wear in the box and pump, ability to handle high temps, foaming, shear, etc.

Note that the examples I've used are either fully syn (both R/L=POE, Trans Z=PAO) or a blend (Tex CC=30-50% PAO/ester)

Transmax Z is about half the price of Redline D4, and has a great reputation here in trucking and Drag racing. Caltex/Texaco CC power steering fluid is the current OEM fluid in one of our vehicles, and is a little cheaper than the Transmax Z.

Any thoughts as I can't decide which way to jump. ATF or power steering fluid

Not sure what's better. If your running synthetic transmission fluid, I'd run it in the steering just for convenience. I doubt it would make a difference either way if both were synthetic.

You could do used oil analysis...
