I know that the best way to replace ATF fluid is by the cooler line or partially draining with the plug.

My 2003 Mazda MPV has a drain plug size of 25mm, which I cannot find in part stores plus I have to invest in a pair of ramp. I am not great with mechanical things so I don't trust myself to replacing the fluid using the cooler line. I may bend or crack the line and ruin the fun.

Has any one used a cheappo hand pump from WM with 6ft plastic tube inserting thru the dipstick hole? Is it doable?

I am willing to extract as much or as little each time and keep repeating this procedure until enough good fluid is in.

don't need a pump
go to home store and get the thickest clear tube that will fit in the dip hole.
and the fish it down it it hit the bottom of the pan/reserv.
siphon out to a pan and tape edge to pan.
fluid will drain sloooowly so leave for few hours.
woolaaa.
fill fluid.

I have done this to a 90 camry v6 I bought for FIL after he wrecked his accord

how do you go about starting the siphon stage?? i know you dont mean........

Somewhere on this site I described a diaphram pump system with clear tubing. It would change out fluid in about 10 minutes or less.

+1 or get a Motive brand off Amazon...I have done 4 transmissions this way plus my boat for 20 years. Works great.

If you are sold on the rubber tubing idea...mineral spirits gets the gasoline taste out of your mouth...

If you vehicle has rubber connecting cooler lines it a lot easier than you think to do it that way. It will do a better job, use less ATF and more green.

And you can pop in a Magnefine filter while you are at it.

I can change the ATF or oil on my Camry without ramps.

Some people drive one side of the vehicle up on the curb.

I can fit far enough under my Camry to change things.

lol guys guys you don't have to siphon till the atf is in your mouth ;-)

I take back what I said, just buy one of em pump.
not worth the trip to the ED for few dollars

harborfreight has an oil for $2x works well

Fill the siphon tube first [no air], then keep you finger over the end so it won't run out.

Then insert it down the tube and release the end in to a pan.
I often use water to start a siphon.
If you are not careful and experienced at it, use ATF.

Or, you can simply suck on it until it comes out, and spit and curse for a few minutes! This is not really recommended.
