I am curious if anyone has tried the ATE SL.6 brake fluid. It is what they recommend as their best fluid for post-1990 street driven vehicles. It has half the 40C viscosity of their other fluids (700 vs 1400), to improve response times of ABS, ESP, and other electronic brake aids.

If you have tried this fluid, have you noticed a difference in pedal feel? Have you noticed any leaks from using this lower viscosity fluid?

Not as of yet but I will when my Scion comes due. I'm running the Blue in my Matrix now. DOT4. Will run the Amber next time so I can see the change a little better.

Special very tight clearances of ABS systems seem to favor a thinner fluid.
But for normal/standard use, thicker seems better to me.

After doing some google searching, I was not able to find any first hand user reports on this fluid. It seems to be more beneficial as the temperature drops, and ATE also states that this fluid is easier to bleed. Motul and Pentosin also make low viscosity brake fluids.

Probably some material issue that may be present before that year that is 100% absent after that MY in all OEM's.

I pulled the trigger and ordered some ATE SL.6 fluid. Will be interesting to see if it has any effect on pedal firmness, and ABS action on compacted snow. Will be doing a flush at the end of this month.
