ARX in my 1998 I6 4.0L engine: Cleans too much?

Guys,

I have been really really really really skeptical about ARX. I heard and saw many independent reviews. Last week, I decided to give myself a try.

BTW my jeep's OCI has been 2500 or less, it has only seen mixed diet between Quaker State 4x4 blend and Castrol GTX along with other oil additives such as engine restorer and others. I have done several oil flush during its 80,000 mile on the engine.

In January, I have replaced the rear main seal of my 4.0L I6 (80,000miles) on my Jeep Wrangler through a dealer. I noticed very little seepage after the repair so I took the jeep back but they said it seems fine to them. I just took it back since they have 1 year 12000miles warranty on their repair work. Now I put the ARX along with a new oil change and put on about 100 miles OMG, the oil is not seeping any more, it is leaking.

Hmm.. I saw that ARX is used to stop oil leaks. Now it is causing more leak on a new seal. What is that mean? I know there was no sludge build up on the new seal.

Any opinion?

My front and rear main seals are leaking on my Sentra after second cleaning. But, I am following the instructions for seal leaks. So, that means, I have 1,000 miles more cleaning and a 3,000 miles more after that to see if the seal reseats itself. You may want to contact Frank. My experience was he basically told me to follow the instructions posted on the website. Auto-RX does take patience. For me, it means waiting 1 year to see if it worked. It seems like Auto-RX can make things look worse, then they get better.

If your rear main was still seeping after the repair it was not fixed properly. Replacing the rear two piece seal on the 4.0L is kinda hard and many end up not doing it right causing it to still leak. I highly doubt the Auto Rx had any effect on the allready seeping seal.

If you maintained your Jeep that well, why did you ARX it? As for the rear seal, it's a "common" problem on older 4.0s so you're case isn't really rare or anything. As for the new seal leaking, they probably installed it wrong, hastily, etc. Push for them to replace it and if they don't call Chrysler's 1-800 number and complain.

Please revisit www.auto-rx.com and print out "How To Stop Seal Leaks" you have residue left over from the additives and engine restorers you have used. Auto-Rx cleans out contaminants and your false seal is now leaking. Change out your oil to any brand that does not contain synthetic esters and drive for up to 3000 miles. Please post again.

holy crap...don't *ever* use that restore stuff, no telling how much damage was done by that junk to a good engine

Have an '01 2WD XJ L6-242/AW-4 [93k+], am now on third annual 25-30k mile ARX clean-up (with DELO 10w30/Baldwin B2-HPG). Vehicle has been run on synthetic since very early (Mobil 1, then REDLINE); have used LC-20 to decarbon pistons these last two years prior to ARX treatment, and FP-60 has been used regularly for three years (or, over 50K). Vehicle averages 18-19 mpg around city, and 22 mpg highway.

Engine has not ever leaked oil, nor even consumed any measurable amount despite 8-10k OCI.

ARX isn't the problem . . go back to dealer and demand proper repair.
