Article on the effect of auto tariffs on Canada.

Most likely Canada would end up with more import from Japan or other countries where US would have gotten in the past.

Mexico may take those used car from Canada into Mexico via ship instead of into the US. US may end up as an island in the auto world with no import except some exotic small volume stuff.
I’d be glad to get those threesomes doing 50 MPH off of the 75 MPH freeways … but think most I see are coming from the Houston market

While I'm not 100% sure it appears these folks are hauling mostly old, used, crashed vehicles down towards Mexico or South America regions. They all seemed to line up over several days before crossing over the Rio Grand River into Mexico. I've seen the line longer than this last year.

Yes, that's a Harbor Freight Generator in the front of my truck.. Safety first.

Apparently a number of articles have stated that if someone in Mexico has the money, many will come up to the USA to buy a US market version of a similar vehicle as many of the Mexican market vehicles have far less crash protection

What's ironic about that is most of the stuff I've seen needs some work (wrecked etc.). But perhaps that's all they can afford. I'm also going to assume these are either parts vehicles or going to fix them up. Interesting to ponder on what or where the're headed.

Guatemala is a huge market now as no emissions testing/requirements and high vehicle taxes.

My 2019 Rogue was originally sold in Ontario, and they had 2 others on the lot from there as well when I was shopping. I see XTR F150's all over Iowa, which is the Canadian version of the Sport model.

I think it happens in waves depending on the value of the dollar.

XTR is canadian?

I'm close to Canada and have seen them around a few times but always thought it was some sort of aftermarket sticker deal.

Yup! I worked for a Canadian company for 5 years, which included managing a fleet of F150’s and Ram trucks.

Funny observation from that job: the RAMs cost less to maintain over 150,000 miles than the Ecoboost F150’s!
