argh, coolant loss

vaseline doesn't sound like a good idea, since it would mix in with the coolant.
here's my trick, yeah, i know it's simple.
put water on the inside of the hose (mostly just to remove the powder residue that seems to be on Honda OEM hoses), and then push the hose on as far as you can. then take if off, and put water on the inside again. after trying the first time, the hose streches a little, so it goes on easier the second time. This has works for me on the two radiators I've replaced in my Hondas.

well an update. i havent lost a drop of fluid since my last post...so its been about a month. but i want to flush it soon and put 60\40 mix in there since its super hot this summer and also this car is a city car.

i think i found where my coolant is going. the other day i smelled coolant but didnt notice it was my car. today i looked under the hood and their is some brownish stuff on alot of things back where the firewall is. i was revving the engine for fun and i noticed that there was a small pin hole leak on my water valve hose that goes into the car...this happends once in a long time.

#2 is the pinhole leak and e-5 is bulging and very soft.

im wondering if really that brownish stuff is the residual of coolant. it turned metal white...but everything else that it touched brown.

Looks like hose #2 is down stream of the valve to your heater core. Try turning on your heater and see if it leaks more. Could it be that once in a while is when you turn the heat on?

actually when i was revvin the heater was not on...but it was set to the cold position. i tried to turn on the heater to see but nothing came out. im replacing it any ways. found out i have another leak under the thermostat...i bet that theromostat is busted...im replacing that as well.

hehe if u read in the transmission forum about my other delema u can understand my headaqe.

well found another leak, but its odd i cant find a source...my friend said its leaking from the transmission somewhere. i found that on the return and sending lines (main radiator lines) it was leaking from the lip of it..i tightneed it though and its better. but im too tired to change my thermostat, the water lines, and figure out where the rest of the coolant is.
