I had my fingerprints taken when I applied to be a cop when I was 20. I was turned down because of my bad eyesight. I always wondered if they kept my fingerprints or tossed them. this was ten years ago
Numerous consulting contracts for school districts / proximity to kids have put my prints into more DOJ databases than I have fingers.
The lady at the livescan station knows me by name... I've gotten really good at the "roll" technique to make it go quicker.
I hear you about the "perfect crime" bit. Every time the id rears its head I get to contemplate how many keystrokes it would take to bring me up on the big screen.
Yes, twice actually. INS fingerprinted me when I was 9 maybe 10 when I got my green card and 1.5 years ago they printed me again when I applied for citizenship.

OTOH: Somewhere in the dusty archives of the army, there are a set of my prints from my mis-spent youth when I worked for a defense contractor that built some far out stuff for something called Nike Zeus.
